Mahindra and SAEINDIA inaugurates the 12th edition of BAJA SAEINDIA 2019 today at Pithampur

Day 1, Pithampur, January 24, 2019: The first day of Mahindra presents BAJA SAEINDIA 2019 began with an inauguration by the Chief Guest Mr.Arindham Lahiri, CEO, ASDC (Automotive Skill Development Council) and the Guest of Honour, Mr.Murli Iyer, Global Advisor, SAE International USA. Other dignitaries present were Mr.Pushp Kumar Nayyar of BPCL, Mr.Bipin Lokhande of ANSYS, Dr.N.Karuppaiah of NATRiP and Mr.Umesh Shah of Gabriel.
Commenting on the event, the Chief Guest, Mr.Arindham Lahiri said, "BAJA SAEINDIA is a unique platform for every young and aspiring engineer to showcase their talent. It is an event that helps to start the journey for a successful career in the industry. The students who participate in such an event will have an opportunity to build new teams, forge new network and learn continuously.”
The guest of honour, Mr. Murli Iyer appreciated the BAJA SAEINDIA 2019 event been conducted on such a large scale unlike the USA. He acknowledged the initiative of eBAJA, which is a unique platform conducted by SAEINDIA since 2015. Additionally, he declared that the top five teams of BAJA SAEINDIA 2019 would get a lateral entry in BAJA SAE International events in the USA from the year 2020.
After Dr. N. Karuppaiah gave a brief welcome address, collectively the dignitaries gave a very encouraging address to a gathering of over 4250 engineering college students. Buggies from mBAJA team of Marathwada Mitra Mandal's College of Engineering, Pune and eBAJA team of Nirma University, Ahmedabad were unveiled by the dignitaries.
On 23rd January 2019, 776 third-year students and 832 fourth-year students underwent their BAJA Aptitude Test (BAT)– a preliminary qualifying round for the HR Meet scheduled on 28th and 29th January 2019 at LNCT, Indore. The technical inspection started yesterday whereby 110 teams appeared for mBAJA and 25 teams appeared for eBAJA as on today. The technical inspection will continue tomorrow, 25th January 2019.
The Sales Presentation and Cost Evaluation were completed today with the help of the 55 judges from the automotive industry. Evaluation for Dronacharya award started today and will continue until tomorrow, 25th January 2019 for 200 faculty advisors. The Go Green event was also held today whereby approximately 20 teams have presented and remaining 23 teams will appear for the presentation tomorrow. Parallelly, the judges evaluated teams for innovation award as well as best CAE award.
Tomorrow, Day 2, January 25th, 2019 will see the mBAJA & eBAJA Design and Technical Evaluation as well as the Dynamic Events.
