Ferozepur /Jalandhar, October 2, 2012: The Young Fist Welfare Society, Ferozepur today celebrated 143rd birthday of Mahatma Gandhi - Father of the Nation - at Gandhi Garden, Ferozepur Cantt. to remember the apostle of peace.
Stating this, the club president, Gaurav Chopra said, to pay floral tributes to the Mahatma Gandhi, the members of the YFWS first cleaned the statue and remembered his contribution in India's peaceful freedom struggle.
On this occasion, the favourite 'bhajan' Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram" was recited besides prayers of all-religion in memory of Father of the Nation.
The members, Umesh Grover, senior vice president, Lokekesh, Cashier, Saveen Khullar, press secretary, Chetan Sharma, Ajay, Vijay and Lovepreet Sharma, members of the society pledged to follow the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi.
Meanwhile, leaders and workers of various political parties, including the Congress and the BJP and different social organisations paid rich tributes to Father of Nation at Company Bagh, Nehru Garden at Jalandhar and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at Shastri Market Chowk, Jalandhar by garlanding the statues of both the leaders. The NGOs included Hind Sewa Samiti (Rashtriya) led by its president Sunil Sharma.
