CHANDIGARH, OCTOBER 14, 2012: The Madhopur-Beas Link (MB Link) canal would remain closed from October 15 to November 7, 2012 (both day inclusive) for 23 days for the work providing protection to the village abadi and agricultural land on the both side of MB Link creek by providing studs, revetment and straightening the flow of water in the middle.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the Irrigation Department said that notification in this regard under rule 63 of rules framed under the Northern India Canal and Drainage Act, 1873 (Act VIII of 1873) has been issued. He said that this decision to close canal has been taken keeping in view the pleasing weather condition and having due regard to the status of crops.
