Lyallpur Khalsa College lifts first runner-up trophy in youth festival
Jalandhar, November 2, 2019: Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar continued its impressive run in the field of cultural activities by winning the first runners up trophy of C-Zone, Youth Festival Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar. The latest edition of the Youth festival was organized by DAV College Jalandhar wherein 22 Colleges of the region affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University participated for various honors. The college participated comprehensively in 34 events and won the first runners up trophy by accumulating 121 points. College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra informed that the college won first prize in 13 events, second in 6 events, third in 6 events en route to claiming the podium finish. He further said that this feat was made possible by the tireless efforts of the teachers and the students as per their classifications in the Music Department, Theatre, Literary Club, Fine Arts and Dance club whilst reiterating the college’s support to the teams and team members. Positions Won by the College in Multiple events are as Follows: •First Prize: Group Song (Indian), Cartooning, Poster Making, Clay Modelling, Classical Instrument (Non-Percussion), Folk-Orchestra, Vaar, Mime, Folk Song, Luddi, Mimicry, One Act Play, Classical Dance. •Second Prize: Classical Instrument (Percussion), Bhangra, Group Shabad, Classical Vocal, Kavishri, Rangoli. •Third Prize: Installation, On the Spot Painting, Elocution, Quiz, Gidha, Western Group Song. Principal Dr. G.S. Samra, congratulated the staff and students of the college on this latest achievement and urged them to maintain their winning run in the future events. He also mentioned the college teams are thoroughly prepared to host and compete in the upcoming Inter-Zonal Youth Festival from 16th to 19th November 2019. Principal Dr. Samra also duly appreciated the support and leadership of President, Governing Council Sardarni Balbir Kaur, paving the way for such success in academics as well as in Cultural activities. He also added that the college is committed to the welfare and overall development of its students.
