Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar organised Scientific Guest lecture

Jalandhar, February 22, 2019: PG Department of Biotechnology of Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar, organised a Scientific Guest lecture on “ Next Generation Haemophilus inflenzae protein based vaccines and S.pneumoniae vaccine development : A path forward for an acute otitis Media Indication. Principal Dr.Gurpinder singh samra and head of the department Dr.Arun Dev Sharma welcomed the resource person for the session Dr.Ravinder Kaur ( Research Scientist , centre for infectious diseases and immunology research institute, Rochester general hospital, Rochester, NY, USA). On this occasion, Dr.Inderjeet Kaur introduced the speaker of the session and enlightened about her achievements in research field. In her lecture, Dr.Ravinder Kaur informed the audience about acute otitis media disease and infection in children and the rate of infection of S. pneumoniae & H. influenzae. She discussed the role of pneumococcal conjugated vaccines in curing the disease. She showed her interest in identifying the protein mechanism regarding the disease so that they can be specifically targetted to improve the treatments. She also added to the knowledge of students about the development of Next generation vaccines. She is the proud member of research team involved in the discovery of conjugated vaccines like Prevnar-7, Prevnar-13, Synflorix. She got a US patent to prevent recurrent ear infection. Her primary goal is to target the Haemophilus influenzae which is also involved in causing sinusitis and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis and to develop the vaccines for universal use in children. The lecture was concluded with an interactive session. Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra graced the session and appreciated the resource person admiring her work and contribution towards the society. Dr. Ravinder Kaur was presented with token of honour and was promised with a full faith to support with every help by Lyallpur khalsa college for future endeavours. All the faculty member including Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Dr. Harsharan Singh, Prof Gobind Ram, Dr. Inderjeet Kaur, Prof. Vijayeta, Prof. Shubhneet, Prof. Navjot, RF Priya and all students of biotechnology department were present on this occasion.
