Ludhiana/Punjab- SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar’s son Tajinder Pal Singh cremated

Ludhiana, October 8, 2013: The body of Tajinder Pal Singh (38) who died of sickness in a Chandigarh-based hospital yesterday was cremated in the cremation ground of Model Town Extension here on Tuesday. He was the youngest son of Avtar Singh Makkar, President, Shiromani Gurudwara Parbhandak Committee (SGPC).
A large number of religious, political and social personalities attended the cremation ceremony. Among others, the Punjab chief minister and SAD president Parkash Singh Badal, MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Punjab Minister Bikram Sinh Majithia and other Akali leaders including Bibi Jagir Kaur and former president of SGPC Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar laid wreaths on the mortal remains of Tajinder Pal Singh. Besides, Sri Akal Takht Jatahedar Giani Gurbachan Singh, Takht Sri Kesgarh Saheb Jathedar Giani Mal Singh, Takht Sri Harimandir Patna Saheb (Bihar) Jathedar Giani Iqbal Singh and Takht Sri Damdama Saheb Talwandi Sabo Jathedar Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh, Sri Akal Takht Saheb former Jathedar Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti and others were also present.
Also, Punjb Vidhan Sabha Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal, Satpal Gosain and Prof. Rajinder Bhandari (BJP) and others were present.
His nephews Bikramjit Singh and Navjot Singh lit the pyre.
