Ludhiana, August 13, 2014: “Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Memorial Cycle Rally” is being organised to commemorate the life of the young revolutionary of the Ghadar movement. He understood the spirit of revolution at a tender age and it lived in his veins. His contribution to the Ghadar movement was defining but it is a sad fact that his sacrifice has largely gone unacknowledged.

The rally aims to pay tribute to his zeal for bringing about a change and laying his life for the same objective. The rally is a joint venture of Ludhiana Peddlers, a group that is promoting a clean and green environment, and the Feroze Gandhi Market Association. The active organisers and participants of the former are V.Venkat, Chairman, Ranjodh Singh, Patron, Davinder Singh Nagi, President, Jagdeep Malhotra, Secretary and Organiser, Nitin Gupta, Vice-President, Gurinder Pal Singh, Joint Secretary, and of the latter are Paramjit Singh Gill Retd. C. E. (PSPCL), President, K. S.Monga, Secretary and A. S. Bhullar, Cashier.

Rally will be flagged off from the statue of Sadar Kartar Singh Sarabha proudly standing at Bhai Bala Chowk at 5:30 a.m. on August 15 and will head to his ancestral village Sarabha that is located at a distance of 17 kms from the starting point. Through this rally, an effort is being made by the peddlers to urge the central government to bestow the title of ‘National Martyr’ on Kartar Singh Sarabha. The rally is also an anti-drug campaign as the menace is eating into the roots of our society and leading our youth astray. The peddlers also wish to make people aware of the benefits of cycling that will not only improve their health but also save the environment from further pollution and degradation. Students from various schools and colleges are going to be a part of it and we also urge you to actively participate in the noble cause.
