Ludhiana News/Idea ‘Junior Championship League- 2013’ Zonal Final held in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, November 18, 2013: Idea ‘Junior Championship League 2013’, an inter-school sports championship, conceptualised by IDEA Cellular, came to a grand closure in Ludhiana.

The unique championship aimed at identifying and recognising the best sporting talent from across 250 schools in Punjab, inaugurated in Ludhiana today.

The Ludhiana zonal finals, held at Guru Nanak stadium, Ludhiana saw 1648 students from 32 (participating schools), compete against each other in sports like Athletics, Volleyball, Basketball, Hockey and Judo. The inauguration of the zonal finals received a phenomenal response from the participants, along with their coaches, parents and schools. The finalists selected from amongst 32 schools in Ludhiana competed with each other with full zeal and excitement. ­­Kartar Singh, District Sports Officer was also present to grace the occasion

Felicitating the winners in the city, Mr. Arul Bright, Chief Operating Officer, Punjab, J & K and Himachal Pradesh, IDEA Cellular said, “I congratulate the winners and all school children from across the city who participated in ‘Idea Junior Championship League-2013’ Ludhiana zonals. Idea had added new elements in the third season of Idea Juniors Champions League-2013. These included a cash award of Rs. 20,000 for the school winning the Championship in each city; 6 months free training by senior coaches of the Punjab Sports Department for Gold Medalists; and an exclusive Rs. 10,000 worth branded sports kit for the Idea JCL winner, who also goes on to win any National level tournament. Also, exclusive counselling sessions were held in each city with child psychologists and sports personalities.

Idea has always been committed to promote Music and Sports among the youth of this country, and particularly in Punjab. This is yet another initiative from Brand Idea to promote sports at school level and recognise the young talent to spur their sporting ambitions.
