Ludhiana News- Second Screening Camp under Operation Walk 2014 concludes at DMCH

Ludhiana, October 6, 2013: Around 400 patients were examined today in second Screening Camp held at DMCH to select patients for free hip and knee replacement surgery under “Operation Walk 2014”.

Earlier, the camp was held on September 22 and 300 patients were examined. 

According to an information received by www.cityairnews.com under Operation Walk 2014, free hip and knee replacements would be done for selected poor needy patients in the last week of January, 2014. The surgeries will be carried in association with a team of doctors from USA. The patients will be selected from all over Punjab after extensive recruitment camps.

Only those patients with disabling arthritis, who are poor and cannot afford surgery by themselves will be considered for free surgery under ‘Operation Walk 2014’. DMCH will also organise these camps with the help of other charitable organisations in various parts of the state.  Giving further information, Dr Jain said that 200 patients have been selected in these two screening camps and further short-listing will be done

Dr. M Yamin, Professor & Head of Orthopaedics said that the patients would be operated with the state of the art technology and equipment from USA and free walkers and postoperative information booklets would be provided to them. Dr. Deepak Jain, Assistant Professor, Orthopaedics, who is coordinating the project said that the project will be benefiting many young patients who have lost their work due to disabling arthritis and are now dependent on their families.
