Ludhiana MP writes to Rly Minister about dilapidated Jagraon Bridge

Ludhiana, June 10, 2016: Member of Parliament S.Ravneet Singh Bittu today drew the attention of the Union Railway Minister Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu towards the dilapidated condition of the Jagraon Bridge in Ludhiana resulting in the recent decision of the district administration banning the movement of heavy vehicles over the ROB in view of the risks involved.

Ravneet said, the Railway Over Bridge No.391B also known as Jagraon Bridge in Ludhiana is 128 years old. The bridge was constructed in the year 1888. Today, the condition of the bridge is such that over time due to corrosion the iron girders of the bridge have weakened considerably. The cross girders of 3rd span are badly corroded and damaged, threatening the life and property of the people, he said.

Ravneet requested the Union Minister to sanction the replacement of the iron girders of the Jagraon bridge to increase its life span and mitigate the risk to the life as well as property of the citizens.
