LUDHIANA LAD WITH SPECIAL NEEDS SETS HIS EYES ON 2019 SPECIAL OLYMPICS WORLD SUMMER GAMES

LUDHIANA, May 24, 2018: Overcoming all the odds, a youth with special needs Arshpreet Singh of village Aloona Tola, nearly 42-km away from district headquarter, has set his eyes on special Olympic world summer games at Abu Dhabi in March 2019.

He is now practicing hard to get selected in the national team for which he is going to take part in the camp which is being organized at Udaipur Rajasthan in June's first week.

To provide full support for the training of Arshpreet Singh, he is being given daily nutritious diet including milk, egg, fruits, juices and other healthy products from the education department under the supervision of two special educators of the department including Karamjeet Singh and Sukhjeet Singh. The department has also given new sports kits to him.

Karamjeet Singh told that Arshpreet's unmatchable confidence and fighting spirit has been hailed by everyone.

"He was adjudged best soccer player and won a gold medal in last year's Unified Football National Championship held at Chennai from October 2 to 7, 2017. Singh had scored four goals against rival teams as a member of Punjab Soccer team in the tournament", Karamjeet disclosed.

Calling him an asset for the team, Singh said that he has been practicing three-hour daily in the ground.

"He is also studying in seventh class of Government Middle School in Aloona Tola", Singh told and added his family, villagers, and the department is proud of him.

He claimed he would definitely make to the national team and would make the country proud in special Olympic world summer games.

Arshpreet's determination towards the game has never faltered, Singh added.

Meanwhile, after practicing Arshpreet told that he is working hard for the national level camp at Rajasthan and his department, coaches have been regularly guiding him in the study and as well as in the game.

On November 30, Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal had also arranged a special tea party for the children with special needs, who excelled in games held recently at different levels including Arshpreet.

It is pertinent to mention here that Punjab Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi had already said that a blueprint is being prepared for the growth of sports and players so that Punjab can achieve the new feat in this field. He had also exhorted renowned business houses and various boards to come forward for the development of sports in the state besides to adopt the players and teams to fulfill their needs by joining the hands with the government.
