LUDHIANA FOREST DIVISION DEVELOPING “FOREST AREA” IN 572 ACRE LAND VACATED FROM ILLEGAL OCCUPATION
Ludhiana, June 4, 2019: World Environment Day is being celebrated throughout the world on June 5 and on this day, several targets are set for saving our environment and efforts are being made at government as well as other levels. Working in this direction, the Divisional Forest Officer Ludhiana has achieved a feat, after which, district Ludhiana as well as Divisional Forest Office Ludhiana is being appreciated everywhere. Under the Ludhiana division, around 572 acres of land was under illegal occupation, which has now been vacated with the efforts of Divisional Forest Officer Ludhiana and “forest area” is now being developed there. Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal today specially visited this area. While providing information, Mr Agrawal stated that some persons had encroached upon prime forest lands under Ludhiana Division for quiet some time. While acting on the directions of the state government, several efforts were made to get this land vacated from illegal occupation and 572 acres of prime forest land is now free from any kind of encroachment. Now, forest area is being developed on this land in a systematic manner. Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal informed that the lands vacated from illegal occupation include 175 acres in Haider Nagar Jungle under Mattewara Range, 79 acre in Hadiwal jungle, 19 acre in Gopalpur Bulendwal Jungle, and 2 acre in Salempur jungle area. Similarly, in Jagraon range, 147 acre in Hot Umra Jungle area, 80 acre in Gorsian Khan Mohammad jungle and 70 acre in For Majri jungle area under Samrala range. He informed that efforts have been made to ensure that these lands worth around Rs 200 crore remain encroachment free now. He informed that special plantation campaign under the supervision of Forests Minister Mr Sadhu Singh Dharamsot is being undertaken on these lands now. It is pertinent to mention that for this feat, Mr Dharamsot had honoured Mr Charanjit Singh, PFS Divisional Forest Officer Ludhiana, Mr Pritpal Singh, Range Officer Mattewara, Mr Mohan Singh Range Officer Jagraon during state-level function on occasion of Van Mahotsav in the year 2018. Today, the Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana was accompanied by GLADA Chief Administrator Mr Parminder Singh Gill, SDM Ludhiana (East) Mr Amarjit Singh Bains, besides several others.
