LUDHIANA DISTRICT BAGS 5 SKOCH AWARDS IN DIFFERENT FIELDS

Ludhiana, September 13, 2016:It is a matter of great pride that Ludhiana district has bagged five awards during the 46th Skoch Sammelan held at Hyderabad recently. Along with another district of South India, Ludhiana has become the first district of the country to have won five awards in different categories at the same time. On behalf of the District Administration, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Miss Apneet Riyait received these awards.
It is pertinent to mention that the entries for these awards were received from throughout the country but along with another district of South India, Ludhiana district became the first district to have bagged five different prizes at the same time.
Deputy Commissioner Mr Ravi Bhagat informed that it is a matter of great pride that Ludhiana district has bagged prizes in all categories for which they had sent their entries. These categories include construction of toilets in all households, I-Sehat, mobile applications, Sashakt canteen and smart classrooms.
He further informed that the construction of toilets has been going on in the district with the assistance of Bharti Foundation and till date more than 20,000 toilets have been constructed, which is the maximum in the state. Besides this, SMS-based mobile application "i-sehat" (that was later adopted by the Union Government), mobile applications namely i-revenue, date2vaccinate, mum2be, irakt and feebank, developing smart classrooms in government schools, and Sashakt canteen being run in the District Administrative Complex by special children.
Mobile applications i-revenue, date2vaccinate and mum2be have been developed by Mr Preet Chandok and 01synergy group, whereas irakt has been developed by Mandeep Singh and Feebank by Raghav Jain. The smart classrooms in government schools have been constructed with the assistance of Mr VK Anand and Rotary Club. For helping the children with special needs, the District Administration has started a Sashakt canteen in Suvidha Kendra, here. This canteen is being run under the guidance of social worker Dr Neelam Sodhi and Mrs Varinder Kaur and has successfully completed 6 months.
It is also pertinent to mention that Ludhiana district is setting an example in the country in terms of developing people friendly and easy mobile applications as well as several other initiatives that can help the public in a big way. The Punjab government, Union Government as well as the Skoch group has appreciated the efforts of District Administration for all this work.
Mr Ravi Bhagat informed that the Skoch group honours different organisations and institutions working in various fields (mainly governance reforms). The theme of this conference was "Sabka Saath-Sabka Vikas".
