Ludhiana Customs committed to swachh bharat abhiyaan as envisaged by “Father of Nation” Mahatma Gandhi: A.S.Ranga

To commemorate 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Customs Commissionerate, Ludhiana organized various activities Ludhiana, October 1, 2019: As per the Government of India guidelines, various departments of Centre and State Government are commemorating 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi for a period of two years from 2nd October, 2018 to 2nd October, 2020 at National as well as International level. As part of this endeavour CBIC started initiatives under which fortnightly activities were planned for commemoration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Also “Swachhta-Hi-Sewa” campaign was organized from September 11, 2019 to October 2, 2019. To commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Customs Commissionerate, Ludhiana organized various activities starting from 2nd October 2018. According to A.S.Ranga, Commissioner, Customs Commissionerate, Ludhiana, the activities performed during the period October 1, 2018 to September 30, 2019 were started with printing of Mahatma Gandhi Logo on the government stationery. A social message was given on AIR regarding sayings of Mahatma Gandhi. Under “Swachhta-Hi-Sewa” posters and pamphlets were distributed regarding water conservation. Ludhiana Customs has adopted Government Primary School, Bir Sahnewal. Sanitary napkins vending machines were distributed to three Government School authorities. Various other activities under this campaign have been carried out such as: Shramdaan, anti-polythene drive and distribution of jute cloth bags in Government Primary School Sahnewal Khurd, Ludhiana. Under “Team Hariyali” initiative started by Ludhiana Customs in association with members of trade, 1,000 saplings have already been planted in the current monsoon season and target is planting 10,000 saplings upto December 31 this year. On the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Hindi Diwas, “Hindi Pakhwada” was also organized from September 16, 2019 to October 1, 2019 in the Commissionerate wherein competitions like essay, poem recitation, picture perception, noting drafting, speech, story writing and quiz competition were held and prizes were distributed. In addition to the programmes organized during 2018-19, a cultural programme, on October 1, 2019 at Headquarters Office, Custom Commissionerate, Ludhiana, was organized to conclude the year-round celebrations of 150th Birth Anniversary in Customs Commissionerate Ludhiana in which the students of Ishmeet Music Academy, Ludhiana gave a highly impressive performance. Various competitions were also conducted such as Essay Competition, Quiz Competition, Story Writing and Painting Competition on Mahatma Gandhi. Prizes were given to the winners who participated in different competitions by the Commissioner, Customs Commissionerate, Ludhiana. Ludhiana Customs is committed to Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan as envisaged by the “Father of Nation” Mahatma Gandhi.
