Professionals are performing Indian Folk Dances on the eve of Holi Fest at LPU campus.

Jalandhar, March 20, 2019: The Department of Cultural Affairs at Lovely Professional University endeavoured enthusiastically to make LPU students and staff members enjoy pre-day celebration of the festival of colours-‘Holi’ amid various Indian folk dances. The occasion was ‘Akhil Bhartiya Lok Kala Mahotsav-2019’ organized at Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium of the university. For this, nationally renowned 60 artists of Karnataka Sahasa Kala Academy (Bangalore) & All India Folk & Tribal Art Parishath (New Delhi) presented their scintillating performances to mesmerize all among the audience. Ministry of Culture (Government of India) & North Zone Cultural Centre (Patiala, Punjab) supported the event.

The visiting artists from different Indian states and union territories including Kerala, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chandigarh, Uttrakhand, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu-Kashmir and more presented traditional dance forms of their respective areas. Synchronizing with the present festivity days, the ‘Fag’ dance of Haryana depicting Holi Festival celebration was much liked by all. Similarly, Sirmauri dance of Himachal, Dolu Kunta of Karnataka, Bhangra of Punjab, Kudd of J & K, Bhavai dance of Rajasthan also enthralled the on-lookers. LPU students and staff-members kept on yelling, dancing, thumping along with the performers throughout the event.

LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal appreciated the artists for upholding the very indigenous spirit of all folk and tribal dances presented by them. Mrs Mittal was also honoured by the Chairman of All India Festival Committee Mr Nirmal Vaid, Chief Co-ordinator Hasan Raghu and Secretary of All India Folk & Tribal Arts Committee Dr Rajkumar.
