LOK SABHA ELECTIONS 2019:  BLO’S SHOULD MOTIVATE ALL ELIGIBLE PERSONS TO GET REGISTERED AS VOTERS & ALSO TO EXERCISE THEIR RIGHT TO VOTE
Ludhiana, April 2, 2019: Additional Deputy Commissioner Jagraon-cum-Nodal Officer SVEEP activities Mrs Neeru Katyal Gupta, during a meeting, has directed all BLO’s that they should motivate youth as well as first time voters to must exercise their right to vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, besides special arrangements should be made for persons with disabilities at all polling stations so that no person is left from voting. She also directed all the officials present in the meeting to organise awareness programmes in all Vidhan Sabha constituencies from 5 pm to 6 pm on every Sunday. She directed them to educate the residents about the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) as well as the VVPAT machines. She asked them to ensure maximum participation of people in these awareness programmes. She said that to attract the youth, a mobile standi, selfie stand, quiz competitions related to elections and signature boards should be installed, besides Nukkad Natak and cultural programmes etc should also be organised. She directed all the officials to organise at least 5-8 awareness programmes should be organised in each Vidhan Sabha constituency so that maximum participation of voters is ensured in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. She stated that the BLOs and officials should intimate the residents about these functions in advance so that maximum number of people can participate. Mrs Neeru Katyal Gupta stated that the main aim of SVEEP activities is to motivate all eligible persons to get themselves registered as voters and also to exercise their right to vote. She also reviewed the progress of setting up Modal Polling Stations as well as Sakhi polling stations.
