LGC Organises “Lohri Celebration” for Students 2019
Ludhiana, January 12, 2019: Lohri was celebrated in the campus of Ludhiana Group of Colleges, Chaukimann. All students of Ludhiana Group of Colleges participated in this occasion cheerfully. Lohri is a popular Punjabi folk festival, celebrated in the northern part of Indian subcontinent. The significance and legends about the Lohri festival are many and these link the festival to the Punjab region. Many people believe the festival commemorates the passing of the winter solstice. Bonfires, Revaris, Popcorns and playing to the folk tunes – was the view of celebration in Ludhiana Group of Colleges Chaukimann as students, staff and faculty gathered around frizzling fire on Friday to rejoice the harvest festival of Lohri. Traditionally associated with the harvest of the Rabi crop, people celebrated Lohri with feasting, exchange of gifts, and songs and dance around bonfires. The bonfire was lit by our honorable management Mr.Rajiv Gulati, Mr.Vikram Grover, Dr J.K. Chawla (Director), Dr. Nishi Bala,( Principal) of the Institute. Various activities has been conducted on this occasion like, Solo Singing, Dance, Bhangra and Giddha. Lohri celebration filled all the students with extreme joy and pleasure. It’s difficult to express this joy in terms of words. The prize distribution function was conquered by our honorable management Mr.Rajiv Gulati and Mr Vikram Grover to students who got positions in different activities. In staff, Best dress male was Er. Raman Sehgal (HOD in Mechanical) and Best dress female was Ms. Harmandeep Kaur (Assistant Professor in Polytechnic). In students, Jaskirat Singh BBA 2 Best dress male, Ramandeep Kaur MBA 1st got best dress female and Navrose got first position in musical chair.
