Bharat Bandh evoked poor response in Ludhiana
Ludhiana, September 10, 2018: On a call, the CPI and the CPM organized protest at the main bus stand at Ludhiana today followed by peaceful procession to the mini secretariat.
The gathering was addressed among others by Sukhwinder Singh Sekhon, D P Maur, Gulzar Goria, Sukhminder Singh Lotey, M S Bhatia and Dr Gurvinder Singh.
Speakers aid continued silence of RSS patronized Modi government on the exorbitant increase in the prices of petrol and diesel has raised serious doubts that this is being done intentionally to give doles to the corporates at the cost of common man whose budget has been shaken as a result of this increase. This much unashamed increase has never occurred in the history. Since they came into power in 2014 the price has increased from 72 rupees per litre for petrol to 89 rupees. These very people now in power had taken out naked processions against the previous government on the issue of petrol price increase. Whereas in the international market the price had gone down by 73 percent our country has witnessed increase by 130 percent.
Further, they said this has pushed the economy of the country into serious trouble. Various speakers on the occasion said that the left parties and leading economists had warned that the demonetization will spell doom; the results are obvious now. Value of rupee has never fallen so low as now but Union FM is asking the people not to worry. There is loss of jobs and unemployment index has doubled in the last four years.
Time has come, the speakers warned, to over throw this government and save the country which has failed to keep any promise made in 2014 including Rs. 15 lakh in every ones pocket, 2 crore jobs every year and corruption free government. Sensing alienation among masses they are now making desperate efforts to push the country into social disharmony and communal riots and even unnecessary war with neighbours to garner votes.
Meanwhile, The Congress’s Bharat Bandh call evoked poor response in Ludhiana today. Almost all the commercial establishments, shops etc were opened as a routine. However, tight security arrangements were made at the public places. Heavy police force was seen deployed to ensure maintenance of law and order in the city. The call for Bharat Bandh was given in protest against the rising fuel prices.
