Chennai, October 14, 2016: BEACON 2016, an annual flagship conference focusing on promotion of Ethical Standards, organized by Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA) in association with National HRD Network – Chennai Chapter (NHRDN) was inaugurated today by Padma Bhushan Dr. MrityunjayArthreya, Ph. D (Harvard) in the presence of LIBA management. The one day conference was spread across two sessions with over ten industry experts addressing various key aspects of ethical best practices in HR.
With a balanced mix of over 300 participants consisting of students, faculty, professionals and HR leaders, BEACON 2016 with the theme “Leadership and Ethics for the Emerging Future” opened doors to many unaddressed subjects onLeadership in conjunction with Ethics and good Governance. With a diverse set of sub themes, the conference dealt with issues that are imperative for the emerging future. The two broad sessions of the conference deliberated on Ethics, Leadership and Business Results – Is there congruence and insights on developingvalue-based Leaders.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Sujith Kumar, Honorary President, National HRD Network – Chennai Chapter, said “I’m delighted to be a part this conference. NHRDN for the last two-three years has been focusing on realigning the interests of youngsters towards HRD. The average age of the NHRDN members would easily be 50 plus and we felt that there is a grave need for younger minds in the fraternity. Hence, there is an increased focus on making our offerings relevant to the student community, who are the future HR leaders. When this particular conference was proposed we were delighted to take up the opportunity because of the theme which is the need of the hour.”
In the inaugural address, Padma Bhushan Prof. Dr. MrityunjayArthreya, Ph. D (Harvard), said “I’m overwhelmed by the warmth and the affection of my Alma Matter, Loyola College. This year’s theme of LIBA’s BEACON 2016 comes at the right juncture with many leaders pondering over the relationship of business and ethics. The future is only for ethical leaders and the three key elements of the conference – Ethics, Leadership and Emerging Future, will help companies in building long term sustainable resources.”
Since its inception in 2007, BEACON (Business Ethics Conference) of LIBA has played a vital role in deliberating various relevant issues including inclusive growth and sustainability in all spheres of management. This year’s theme largely focused on the impact of Ethics and Governancein shaping employee attitude and behavior.
