Ludhiana, April 5, 2016: One day farmers fair was organized on “Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojna” at Krishi Viygan Kendra, Budh Singh Wala, Moga on 4th April 2016. Chief guest for this fair was Bibi Amarjit Kaur Sahoke, chairperson, Zila Parishad, Moga. On this occasion Dr. Parminder Kaur, Incharge KVK, Moga welcomed all the dignitaries from different departments and farmers of the district. She highlighted activities of KVK, Moga. Dr. Harsimranjit Kaur Mavi emphasized on the need of record keeping in agriculture so as to monitor cost and benefits. Mrs Amanpreet during her stage management emphasized on resource conservation technologies in Kharif crops. S. S S Gill, Manager, Lead Bank from Punjab & Sindh bank gave detailed information to farmers regarding “Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojna”. S. R S Walia, Financial Literacy Councilor, Punjab & Sindh Bank highlighted the different facilities & schemes provided by bank to the farmers. Sh. Narinder Kumar, DDM, NABARD informed about SHG formation and financial assistance given to SHG’s by NABARD. Dr. Harveen Kaur Dhaliwal from Deptt of Animal Husbandary informed farmers about different schemes and facilities given on cattles and buffaloes by the department. Sh. Pawan Thapar, Representative, IFFCO Tokio GIC ltd, highlighted different insurance schemes run by the company. Dr. Amarjit Singh from Deptt of Agriculture emphasized on soil & water testing and use of green manure in fields. Sh. Buta Singh, Member, Zila Parishand & District Planning Board encouraged farmers to reduce expenses on agriculture and adopt subsidiary occupation to increase their income. Bibi Amarjit Kaur Sahoke in her presidential address asked the farmers to increase their links with government organizations.

KRISHI VIGYAN KENDRA, KAPURTHALA CELEBRATED A FARMER FAIR AND KRISHI PARDISHINI ON "PRADHAN MANTRI FASAL BIMA YOJANA"
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kapurthala organized one dayfarmers fair and Krishi Pradarshaniat the campus in order to sensitize participating farmers, farm women and youth besides officers and staff from line departments, regarding"Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana", which is a path breaking scheme for farmers' welfare.

As part of the event, the KVK also created awareness on different agricultural and allied schemes being run by other development departments in the state of Punjab. The district heads of agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries, dairy development, cooperative societies and principals attended this mega event, in which about more than 525 people participated. KVK laid out major emphasis on judicious use of fertilizers, pesticides and water besides benefits of soil health cards. Simultaneously, the farmers were made available literature, seeds (paddy, sunhemp, vegetables), urea molasses mineral block, mineral mixture and fortified by pass fat. At the same time , 35 exhibition stalls were erected by the development departments, machine manufacturers, pesticides companies, self help group members, KVK trainees who started their own business ,Director Regional Station and KVK in which efforts were made to show the latest recommendations made by the research institutes for the benefit of farmers.

This event was inaugurated by S. Jaskiran Singh , IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala and Dr G S Buttar, Additional Director of Extension Education graced the occasion. The Deputy Commissioner asked the farmers to be in contact with the scientists posted at the KVK and make use of scientific information available with the research institutes. He also emphasized that such interactions need to be made throughout the year and not only on special occasions. Dr G S Buttar delivered a detail talk on resource conservation, adoption of subsidiary occupations by the small farmers, reading of literature developed by the Punjab Agricultural University and invited them to make use of different facilities available at KVK, Kapurthala. He also narrated that different districts have different technological problems and thus, a KVK established in a particular district help in solving the problems.

Dr Manoj Sharma, Associate Director (Training) welcomed the participants and highlighted the role of KVK alongwith detail of Pradhan Mantri Bima Yojna. Also Sh Subash Singh, Associate Govt. Business Manager from Reliance General Insurance Company, Limited also informed the participants about Pradhan Mantri Bima Yojna started by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on 13th January,2016.
