Kular meets Union Minister Piyush Goyal

Ludhiana, December 21, 2014: Gurmeet Singh Kular, Chairman, PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Ludhiana Zone met Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Coal and New and Renewable Energy, and discussed the electricity problems being faced by industries.

He demanded that electricity regulatory commissions should be out of state government’s preview because commissions are always in favour of state governments and it affects industry.

Regarding Retro Respective Rates, he said it happens always in the mid of year that regulatory commission increased tariff with Retro Respective from April which affects so much to industry because they charged from previous months in which they have not added in cost. He, therefore, requested the minister that retro respective rates should not be enforced, said Kular in a statement released to cityairnews.com. He further said Lalton 220 KVA substation is on Scada Tripping System and whenever Northern grid overload then firstly Ludhiana 66 KVA Substation Janta Nagar got tripped. He sought that Scada System be removed from Lalton 220 KVA substation to save the industrial town because otherwise it takes at least 2 hours to restart. In summer it happens 3 to 4 times, resulting to which huge loss is caused to industry as well as machinery.
