KMVites receive Skill Training on “Robotics & Industrial Automation”

Jalandhar, February 26, 2019: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar has always been a pioneer in incorporating innovative skills together with its teaching strategies. The society is rapidly emerging towards becoming an automated scenario. With this in focus, the P.G.Department of Computer Science and Applications, KMV organized a short term course on “Robotics & Industrial Automation” in the college premises to make the students well versed with this current trend. This short term course was planned and implemented in conjunction with CIHT (Central Institute of Hand Tools), which is a premier organization responsible for the development of Hand Tool Industry in the country. More than 80 students from Computer Science Department, KMV attended this short term course in full swing. This short term course included introduction to robotics, microprocessors, different input devices and various sensors like Temperature sensor, Pressure sensor, Distance sensor and Load & Manual sensors used in robotics. Numerous practical demonstrations were also shown, like that of a robot named Robotino by FESTO. The students were explained its practical implementation in industries, working, controlling by mobile phone and internet, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Quad Copter was also demonstrated as to how its sensors can be used to avoid an accident. The demonstration of pressure sensors was also explained as to how the rectifier circuit in it helps to convert AC to DC. The resource persons also explained about the PLC controllers and its various application areas. The students were thrilled to know about various simulation applications. The students were also made aware of many real world simulation models used in automobile manufacturing, CNC machines, Robotics, Traffic Light controllers and many more. The short term course also included the programming logic and the combination using various programming languages such as C, C++, Java, MATLAB, etc. The students actively took part in the various sessions such as making the programs and operating knowledge. To make the students well versed about the practical implementations, the students along with the faculty members were taken to CIHT, where they were shown various machines and robots. The students themselves not only saw the various robots, but also operated them. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the efforts of the department and appreciated the students for their dedication towards the short term course. Principal Madam congratulated the students for having received the certificates from CIHT, issued by Government of India after the successful completion of this short term course.
