KMV organizes Extension Lecture on Detection Techniques of Nuclear Radiation

Students enlightened about the intricacies of Nuclear Physics
Jalandhar, September 27, 2018: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous institution, Jalandhar always strive to give the best exposure to the students for their overall growth. Keeping with the trend, PG Department of Physics of KMV organized an extension lecture on the topic, Detection Techniques of Nuclear Radiation. The resource person for the extension lecture was Dr. Kulwant Singh Thind, former Professor and Head, Dept of Physics, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. During the course of his lecture, Dr. Thind interacted with the students of M.Sc. Physics and B.Sc.III. He explained very vividly the concept of detection of radiation and also gave demonstrations of the theoretical work in a practical way with the aid of various apparatus of the Physics lab of KMV. He also cleared the queries of the students about the core areas of the Nuclear Physics and in a very descriptive manner explained the working of scintillation detector and its applications. Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that these types of interactions helps the students to build up the scientific aptitude and she also appreciated the faculty for holding such events.
