Jalandhar, October 19, 2016: Kanya Maha Vidalaya, Jalandhar aspire to practically skill students of all faculties in order to enable them to have a firm standing in the respective profession P.G Department of English has organised a 3 day workshop on phonetics and communication skills as it will help students of PG Department of English and other faculties studying phonetics and communication skills to hon their practical language skills.
The resource person for the same is Prof. Z.N.Patil who has an experience of teaching English language for the past 44 years. Ex.Prof. and head of the Dept. of Training and development, English and foreign Language, University Hyderabad. Dr. Patil is the author of 20 textbooks and has to his credit research of international repute. Popular as a scholar for delivering key note addresses at international conference ,he has been to many countries of the world. Dr. Patil has had the honour of being deputed as an English Language expert by the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt of India to develop Spoken English Skills of Diplomats. The resource person for the day Dr. Patil lighted the traditional lamp of knowledge and was given floral welcome by Head, PG Dept. of English Mrs. Seema Jain. The inaugural session of Dr. Patil was with the students of B.Com-I Semester and BBA Semester-I on ‘Aspects of Business Communication’ the listening and speaking skills in particular. He talked about using simple, day to day language effectively before learning Business Communication Skills. The interesting discourse was delivered with anecdotes, personal experience and folk tales to make authentic points. He said that along with words tone, intonation pause, accent and pronunciation is very important. Dr. Patil interacted with the students and satisfied their queries towards the end of the discourse. There was an interactive session with the whole language faculty on creative and innovative strategies for teaching Language and literature .Mrs Seema Jain Head PG Dept.Of English thanked Dr.Patil for his erudite discourse and lively interaction with students. Principal Prof. Dr.Atima Sharma Dwivedi also extended her gratitude towards Dr. Patil for having travelled so far to share from his precious pool of invaluable knowledge. She was positive that the workshop would continue to be as lively and fruitful as an on its first day.
