KMV commences week long celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary with run for swacch sashakt bharat
Jalandhar, September 30, 2019: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, is organizing a week long celebrations to mark Mahatma Gandhi's 150th Birth Anniversary with zeal and fervour. The celebrations opened with Run for Swacch Sashakt Bharat which was flagged off by Diprava Lakra, Commissioner Municipal Corporation. Throwing more light on the run, Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal KMV averred that the run commenced from Skylark Chowk and the spirited KMVites ran till Luv-Kush Chowk and back. This event witnessed a substantial participation which included the students, teaching and non teaching faculty from KMV. Before the start of the run tree-plantation drive and cleanliness drive was carried out at the triangle and the greenbelt opposite the circuit house. During this drive, Diprava Lakra also planted a tree. Then the students, teachers, Principal and Mr Lakra assembled in the Company Bagh to mark the culmination of the month long Nutrition Campaign being led immaculately by Varinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar. For this occasion, Varinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar was the Chief Guest. KMVites formed a human chain and the students held placards and banners with relevant and thought provoking slogans motivating all to adopt a healthy lifestyle. The whole ambience resounded with the slogans chanted by KMVites. Lakra and Varinder K. Sharma were very much appreciative of these meaningful activities carried out by KMVites to mark the 150th birth anniversary of the Mahatma. Dr S.P.Gupta, Member, KMV Managing Committee & Mr Bali were also present for the occasion. After these activities the students all charged up with Gandhian spirit of selfless service carried out a cleanliness drive at the Company Bagh. After these activities, the students came back to KMV to prepare for the activities which will be carried out in the following days in continuation of these celebrations. Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi further maintained that in the succeeding 3 days KMV is putting up an exhibition at Virsa Vihar in collaboration with Field Outreach Bureau, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India. She lauded the efforts of the KMV's Gandhian Studies Centre for having taken the initiative of organizing the week long activities. Dr Monica Sharma, Director Gandhian Studies Centre, Seema Jain, Dr Madhumeet, Dr Gurjot, Harpreet, Pardeep and Ravi were appreciated by Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi for their initiatives.
