KMV celebrates World Radio Day

Jalandhar, February 14, 2018: The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage and Autonomous institution, Jalandhar celebrated World Radio Day. The popular radio VOW- 'Voice of Women', run by the department in the social media network has already attained laurels from different parts of the society for its innovative programmes organized at different contexts. In the context of the World Radio Day, the students made a radio talk on the overall history of radio in India and at the global level. The introduction of radio, its gradual development to the formation of All India Radio and its subsequent journey in India throughout the years were discussed. The commencement of Vivid Bharati, the introduction of Parsar Bharati Bill, its enactment and the rise of FM channels in India were also elaborated . It is worth mentioning here that radio VOW had earlier made various programmes on women empowerment. The motto of these programmes is to disseminate information related to social issues of youth section of the society. Many dignitaries across the state had also participated in these programmes.
Principal, Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the students on the occasion. While lauding the efforts of the department for radio VOW she said that the department has been unleashing the creative powers of the women through information dissemination among different strata of the society. It is note were the that radio VOW has already made more than 150 programmes on various social issues.
