Jalandhar, September 26, 2019: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, organized Foundation Programme, an innovative initiative designed to strengthen the intellectual foundation of the all the new entrants of the college.
This programme, one of its kind in any college of the country, aims to bridge the gap between the school and higher education. It seeks to promote, in the students, awareness of the human intellectual history so that they can carry forward the rich legacy of humanity as responsible and humane citizens of the world.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi whose brain child this Foundation Programme is, also acts as the pilot faculty and conduct session on the human story which traces the dawn of humanity passing through the ancient and middle ages right up to the modern times. A team of nine professors of the college led by Prof.Atima Sharma Dwivedi herself deal with various aspects of human history and make PowerPoint presentations for the students. The teachers deal with various topics like ''The Vedas, Gita, Guru Nanak and Bible; Journey of Women through Ages; Changing Paradigms in Society, religion and literature; Makers of Modern India; History of Racism; Lessons Unlearnt; Modern World at a Glance and Technology in Human Life. All the sessions are highly interactive with students participating enthusiastically in discussions. Students found this programme greatly beneficial as it increases their knowledge and awareness manifold. The participants are evaluated on the basis of their participation and multiple choice questions test. The grades of which are included in the mark sheet.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated Dr Gurjot & Dr Monica, Coordinators of the programme and also lauded the efforts of all the resource persons among whom are Seema Jain, Dr Madhumeet, Shalini, Dr Anu Shobha, Amarpreet Khurana and Ashima. She averred that since the vision of KMV is to empower girls with knowledge. This program instills in them the qualities of compassion, empathy and to be more humane. It makes them more confident, aware and enables the students to take the right decision in their lives.
