KERALA FLOOD RELIEF:  CITY RESIDENTS CONTINUE TO DONATE FOR KERALA FLOOD RELIEF

Ludhiana, September 9, 2018: For supporting the victims of floods in Kerala, the city residents have been contributing wholeheartedly. After the appeal by Deputy Commissioner Mr Pardeep Kumar Agrawal, a large number of people have come forward and have donated for this social cause. Today, AVM Public Senior Secondary School Ludhiana donated 1100 notebooks and 1100 pencils as flood relief for Kerala. The Deputy Commissioner thanked the school on behalf of the District Administration for donating the notebooks and pencils.

While providing information, Mr Pardeep Kumar Agrawal informed that till date, District Administration Ludhiana has sent more than 1 lakh packets of eatables for Kerala flood relief. Besides, more than 20,000 blankets, 7,000 pyjamas, 1,000 underwears, 1,000 pants, 2 sacks full of slippers, 15,000 t-shirts, 1,000 vests, 500 knickers, 1,500 panties, 1,500 shirts for children, 1,000 shirts for women, 1,000 slacks, 150 pants for children, bed sheets, towels, utensils, matchboxes, candles, mats, soaps, hand wash soaps, sanitary napkins, toothpaste, tooth brush, cops, medicines, inner garments, and other such stuff of daily use for the victims of Kerala floods.

He informed that now, the District Administration is collecting study material for children, that would also be sent to Kerala soon. He said that due to floods, more than 4 lakh families have been affected, due to which they are finding it hard to survive and are short of things of daily use. He said that more than 2 lakh children below poverty line require study material along with other goods.

Mr Agrawal has appealed to different organisations to contribute wholeheartedly for this noble cause. He said that generous organisations and people can contribute to solace these children by offering school bags, school water bottles, tiffin boxes, note books, pens and pencils etc. He informed that at present the requirement is of 1.5 lakh school bags, 1.5 lakh water bottles, 1.5 lakh tiffin boxes, 7.5 lakh notebooks, 3 lakh pens and 3 lakh pencils.

He urged the residents to contribute generously in this hour of crisis. The Deputy Commissioner informed that the donations can be deposited at the Collection Centre set up at Bachat Bhawan located in Deputy Commissioner office, Ludhiana by 11 am on September 10, 2018.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Mrs Renu Lovely, Director, AVM Public Senior Secondary School Ludhiana, Mrs Manisha Gaba Principal, Mrs Usha, Mrs Uma, Mrs Amita R Singh, Mr Harsh Bala, Mrs Sonia, besides several others.
