Jalandhar, April 29, 2017: Learning is a continuous process and teachers need to arm up themselves to cope up with the challenges of education in this contemporary era. With this motive, Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar organised a Faculty Development Programme in which Mr.Kartik Mehta, Psychological Trainer and Consultant Trainer at UPES, Dehradun enlightened the faculty members regarding innovative methods to be adopted in the classrooms.
Mr.Kartik Mehta threw light upon the role of a teacher plays in carving the holistic development of a student. He said students of this era are techno-savy and quite curious like kids to gather information just at a click. So a teacher needs to focus on practical methods of teaching and reduce the lecture method. By learning the diverse backgrounds of students, one can avoid reacting on particular situations arising in classrooms. Through some activities like group discussion, power point presentation, interactional session etc., he demonstrated the way with which a teacher can make his class quite interesting and informative.
Principal Dr.Sucharita highly commended Mr.Kartik Mehta for his informative discussion. She said at regular intervals, teachers need to update themselves with latest audio-visual aids along with interesting teaching methods to make his/her students grasp the knowledge with full interest. She said such demonstrative workshops are need of the hour to establish a strong bond between teachers and students.
