Ludhiana, July 14, 2016: Kartar Singh Sehamby, Assistant Director Sports, Punjab took the additional charge of District Sports Officer, Ludhiana.
He had been District Sports officer, Ludhiana for three years earlier and did a lot for the promotion of sports in the district. Post Graduate in Public Administration from Punjabi University, Patiala joined Punjab Sports Department in March 1989 and had coaching stint for 21 years at Jalandhar and Faridkot. He was coach of Punjab team during Indo-Pak Punjab games at Patiala and was the member of organizing committee during the preparatory coaching camp of Indian Badminton Team which took part in Thomas/Uber Cup in 2006. He coached the Sub Junior Indian Probable 2007-2010 as appointed by Badminton Association of India and also deputed technical delegate by National Institute of Sports, Patiala during World Cup in 1987-88 and in 1995-96 World Cup as technical delegate deputed by Badminton Association of India at New Delhi.
Having degree in Journalism and Mass Communication in the first batch of G.N.D University he is also looking after the Press and Media of Punjab Sports Department for the last 15 years and did the commendable job in Four Nation Hockey at Chandigarh in 2009, 5 World Kabaddi Cups from 2010 to 2014 and Shaheed-E- Azam Bhagat Singh Punjab Games in February 2011 at Ludhiana and 2015 at Mohali. He was main coordinator in the last concluded 5th World Cup, Kabaddi. A Diploma in Personal Management and Industrial Relation holder’s main aim will be as District Sports Officer, Ludhiana is to uplift sports in Rural Areas as well as in urban pits of the district.
