Ferozepur, August 8, 2014: On Thursday evening, in ‘Sangat Darshan’ was organised by various representatives of business houses, social organisations, prominent persons at local Gopi Ram Dharmshala, in Ferozepur Cantonment, Kamal Sharma, Punjab BJP President, listed the problems of the citizens, with special reference of giving them right to live peacefully and independently,  in cantonment area apart from saving them from demolition of more than three decades long constructed buildings and sending recommendations to the Centre for necessary amendment in the Cantonment Act.
It may be mentioned that Ferozepur Cantonment has issued to various residents of the area for unauthorised building constructions in the area which have sprung up all over the cantonment area during past three decades.  As per the sources, some have filed appeals before the board while some of them have moved to the court for restraining demolition action.
A huge gathering of people arrived at Sangat Darshan informed Kamal Sharma that Cantonment Board is making plans for demolition of more than three decades old building by revising the old notices and the residents of the area are under tense.
They said, the buildings should not be demolished under the age old law of British time and necessary amendment may be carried out in the Cantonment Act by sending recommendations to the concerned ministry.
They further said, Ferozepur cantonment is a border town and there is no employment opportunities and in case the residence and shops are  demolished, the people of the area will become homeless and unemployed.
More problems of the area were put forth before Kamal Sharma the residents and some organisations also submitted their memorandums to him.
They informed that Arun Jaitely, Union Cabinet Minister had given a patience hearing and assurance to look into the matter, when a deputation had gone to meet him on making appeal by Kamal Sharma.
Addressing the gathering, Kamal Sharma said, “I am visiting Arun Jaitely, on August 9 for seeking a solution to the problems of the people of Cantonment.   He has full sympathy with the people of the area and I too want that home and shops of the people may not be demolished and put my all out efforts to save them.”  
Sharma said, “I have great love for this city being born and educated here and his doors are open for 24 hours, for every person.”
On this occasion, D.P.Chandan, Jugraj Singh Katora, Ashwani Dhingra, Nand Kishore Googan, Ankit Sharma, Brij Bhusha, Garg Aggarwal and others were present.
