Justice A.S Anand Mediation and Negotiation Competition at UILS Begins

Chandigarh, October 26, 2018: The first day of the Justice A.S Anand Mediation and Negotiation Competition 2018 began with the prelims round 1 in the morning. 24 teams from all over India including NLSIU Bangalore, NJUS Kolkata , participated in the 1st round and then again participated in prelims round 2. Out of which the 8 teams participated in octa finals . The rounds were judged by senior members of the legal profession who are trained mediators from the Punjab & Haryana High Court. Prof. Rattan Singh, Director UILS and Dr. Shruti Bedi, Chairman of the UILS ADR & CCL Board were highly obliged with the warm and cooperative support from the Punjab and Haryana High Court judges.
The judges appreciated the conduct of this competition and were even more pleased to know that around 24 teams participated from all over India and 72 students in total took part in the competition . The students with all the enthusiasm and confidence began their respective rounds. The participants were judged on their communication skills, their relationship with the opposite party and the mediator and their ingenuity of ideas for possible solutions.
The day was concluded with semi finals round and the 2 teams made it to finals which will be conducted on day 2 of the event. The judges were extremely impressed by the performance of the students and encouraged them to take part in further events and also elaborated on the importance of mediation.
