JUDGMENT: Life imprisonment to 2 accused in murder case of BSF inspector

Jalandhar, December  5, 2012: The Designated TADA Court Jammu (J&K) convicted three accused persons, namely  Nazir Ahmed Sheikh; Shoukat Ahmed Khan and Farooq Ahmed Chichoo for the murder of  Dharambir Singh, Inspector, BSF near Market of Sayeed Rehman Sahib, Srinagar on October 26,1990 and for their anti-national and terrorist activities. 

The Court has sentenced  Nazir Ahmed Sheikh to undergo Life Imprisonment with total fine of Rs.30,000 and  Shoukat Ahmed Khan to undergo life imprisonment with total fine of Rs.27,000 while the third accused Farooq Ahmed Chichoo to undergo five years Rigorous Imprisonment with total fine of Rs.3,000.  

The case was registered by CBI on March 11,1991 on the request of the Jammu & Kashmir Government and further Notification of Government of India on March 6, 1991. The CBI took up the investigation of case FIR 105/1990 dated October 26, 1990, earlier registered at Police Station, Nishat, District Srinagar (J&K).

After thorough investigation, CBI filed a charge-sheet in the Designated Court. The Court found three accused guilty and convicted them, while acquitting a Constable of Jammu & Kashmir Armed Police from the charges.
