JUDGMENT: 2 years RI to then official of BSNL in bribery case

Jalandhar, January 7, 2013: The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Nagpur has convicted T.S. Rajan, then Telephone Mechanic, Pipla Telephone Exchange, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), District Nagpur (Maharashtra) and sentenced him to undergo two years Rigorous Imprisonment with total  fine of Rs.10,000 in a bribery case.

CBI had registered a case against T.S. Rajan, Telephone Mechanic, Pipla Telephone Exchange, BSNL, District Nagpur on the basis of a complaint alleging that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs.1,000 from the complainant on April 4, 2002 for early installation of his telephone connection. 

After registration of the case, CBI laid a trap and T.S. Rajan, Telephone Mechanic was caught red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe from the complainant.  A chargesheet was filed on June 21, 2002. 

The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
