Ludhiana: Around 40 students of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Ghumar Mandi Partcipated in Panel Debate/ Discussion on September 25.

The topic for discussion were Students elections in Educational institutions, Timings for girls in college and University hostels, Reservation in jobs and admissions and trend of styding abroad. The panel of students speak in favour and against on the difference topics.

Coordinator of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Prof. Sushminderjeet Kaur said that objective of organising Panel Debate/ Discussion was to build confidence, increase knowledge level of students.

During the debate the students expressed their opinions and argue with their opposite panel on different topics. In the first students, some students were in favour of 24x7 entry of girls in hostels as a part of equality and freedom but some students wanted restrictions as some students might misuse their freedom while living in hostels.

In another topic, one panel of students were in favour of migrating abroad due to corrupt system and lack of job opportunities while another panel of students wanted to settle in their own country by fighting against the corrupt system.

On the controversial topic of Reservation in jobs and admissions, the students argued that whether reservation is required or not. The students also discussed the pros and cons of student elections in educational institutions during the debate.

College Principal Dr. Arvinder Singh gave away prizes to students.

Journalism Department student Prabhjot Singh was given prize for knowledge, Dharamveer for confidence, Micky Jaiker for counter questioning, Anubhav for defence, Harmanjeet Kaur and Prabhjot Kaur for logical questions.
