Event showcased creations by more than 600 students supporting Fashion for Change
New Delhi, June 25, 2018: JD Institute of Fashion Technology, one of the country’s leading design institutions celebrated The Fashion Awards 2018. The 2-day gala show was held on June 23 and 24, 2018 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi showcased design solutions by over 600 students along with honoring eminent personalities within fashion and lifestyle.
The Fashion Awards is India’s largest design event in India by an institution that recognized eminent leaders within fashion and design industry. Over 600 students presented their skills inspired by the theme – CHANGEacross disciplines such as a fashion designing, interior designing, jewelry designing, textile designing. This included fashion collections, exhibits, installations as well as a 3D walk-through showcasing their aesthetic and technical prowess in front of an eminent panel of industry experts and renowned designers.
For close to a year, students were encouraged and mentored by renowned fashion designer and mentor Rina Dhaka to use innovative design to create solutions that develops into a fashion or trend addressing challenges with society. These were showcased across different collections such as, Amarosis, Neev, Mother by Nature and more that featuring functional garments for visually impaired, children with down syndrome, farmers etc. The proceeds from the event were donated to NGO’s such as Jamghat and New Delhi Social Workers Association NDSWA.

The event witnessed the presence of Sri Ajay Tamta, Member of Parliament as well as Sinita Kohli, National Award-winning architect were chief guest for the event. Leading personalities from within the fashion industry such as Rohit Bal, Fashion Designer, Prasoon Dewan, jewelry designer, Nandini Bhalla, Editor-in-Chief, Cosmopolitan were presented with awards by JD Institute of Fashion Technology. The institute also introduced RC Dalal Memorial Award and Chandrakant Dalal Memorial Award to encourage the spirit of entrepreneurship and budding talent. The award was presented to Pratiksha Baruah and Gaurav Gupta, alumni from JD Institute of Fashion Technology along with a prize money of INR 50,000 to help them start their own venture.
The mega event was concluded with a mesmerizing performance by Hardy Sandhu, who electrified the audience with his foot tapping songs.
