Dharamshala, November 4, 2016: A Japanese national killed after crashing into hill-side at Bir- Billing in Baijnath Subdivision of Kangra district on Friday. Deceased has been identified as Makota Sakuma (38).

According to Ms Sunaina Sharma, Sub- Divisional Magistrate Baijnath,(45kms from here), "Makota took off from Billing in the afternoon but lost control on his glider and crashed into hill-side. He was rushed to Vivekanand Hospital Palampur where doctors declared him dead."

Indian National Open Air Paragliding Accuracy Competition is slated for November 11-14 at Bir-Billing which figures among the one the best paragliding sites in the World. The picturesque valley was also host to the Paragliding World Cup Tour in 2015.
