ON JANUARY 15: Jarkhar Sports inauguration

Ludhiana, January 11, 2013: Jarkhar Sports Festival is being organised by Mata Sahib Kaur  Sports Club will be inaugurated in Mata Sahib Kaur  Multipurpose Sports Stadium of the Village.

In a press conference held here, Darshan Singh Shivalik MLA, Narinderpal singh Sidhu , Club Chairman, D P Singh, Senior Vice President of Coca Cola, Advocate Harkamal Singh President, Jagroop Singh Jarkhar Chief Organiser and Sarpanch Dupinder Singh told that Competitions will start from January 14.

However, inauguration will be held on January 15 in floodlights from 4 pm to 7 pm.  March Past, Gatka, Laser Show, Choreography and performance by singer Happy Jassowal, Hardeep Bhamra and singer Harjit Harman will take place on the inaugural day.

Coca Cola will be sponsor of festival. Maruti Suzuki India Limited will be co sponsor and associate sponsors will be Prabal TMT Saria and Hero Cycles.

PTC News and PTC Punjabi will be the media partners and Starworks Marcom Networks is exclusive marketing agency.

The main sporting events include Hockey Seniors (Boys and Girls), Hockey (Girls), Volley Ball (Boys and Girls), Basket Ball (Boys and Girls), Handball (Boys and Girls), Kabaddi 70 Kg, Kabaddi (Ek Pind Open) and Kabaddi (Academies). A total eight academies will participate in the event. Kabaddi team of Kenya will also participate.

BSF, ITBT, PSEC Patiala, RCF Kapurthala, PU Chandigarh, Jarkhar Academy and Dala Academy Moga will be playing in Hockey (Men) tournament while Haryana Eleven, HMV Jalandhar, Government College Ludhiana, Sports Wing Ludhiana will be main teams in Hockey (Girls).

More than Rs. 10 lakh is the prize money in various games.

The Olympic Torch will be brought from Guru Nanak Stadium Ludhiana to Jarkhar Stadium at 2 pm on January 15 by noted International players and srtists.

On the occasion, five personalities namely photo artist Janmeja Singh Johl, noted Punjabi lyricist Dev Thareekewala, sports personality Teja Singh Dhaliwal, Hockey star Parveen Thakur and Master Sadhu Singh Chokra will be honored with Life Time Achievement Awards.

On the concluding day on January 17, the prestigious annual awards will be bestowed on distinguished personalities from different fields. Hockey star Rajpal Singh will be presented Olympian Surjit Singh Randhawa Award, Rajdeep Singh Gill Sports Promoter Amarjit Singh Grewal Award, Folk Singer Pammi Bai Mohinder Singh Dangori Award, Ritesh Likhi Aditya Jaitly Best Media Award and Blind Athlete Harman Preet Kaur Chahal will be presented Olympian Pirthipal Singh Award.
