New Delhi, December 31, 2012: "We will not allow FDI in Retail Trade of India " will be the resolution of Year 2013 of the retail stakeholders who are meeting on January 1 next (tomorrow) at New Delhi at a National Convention on FDI in Retail Trade.
The prominent leaders of organisations of farmers, hawkers, traders, labourers, small industries, cooperative, consumers, transport and other sectors of retail trade will attend the convention which will be presided by prominent farmer leader of the country Dr. Krishan Veer Chaudhary.
Leaders of different political parties who have so far opposed FDI in Retail have also been invited to attend the convention which is being organised under the banner of " Khudra FDI Virodhi Rashtriya Morcha", a joint coalition of all stakeholders of retail trade of India.
During the day long deliberations, the leaders of retail stake holders will hold a brainstorming on the issue of protection of retail democracy in the country and will formulate an effective strategy to oppose FDI in retail trade and the ways and means to pressurise the government to withdraw FDI in retail notification. The participants will also discuss a strategy of launching a two months movement across the country to educate the people that FDI in retail is against the national interest and will provide ample oppertunities to global retailers to dominate and control the Indian retail trade as it was done by East India Company which led to slavery of the Country.
Prominent leaders who are expected to attend the Convention includes Praveen Khandelwal, National Secretary General of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), Naresh Sirohi, General Secretary, Bhartiya Kisan Morcha, Pradeep Sharma and Satish Garg, National Coordinator and National organiser respectively of the Morcha, Shaktiman Ghosh, General Secretary, National Hawkers Federation, Bejon Mishra and B. S. Sachdeva, Leaders of Consumer movement, Labourers Leader Prahald Patel, Pradeep Singhal, Working President of All India Transport Welfare Association etc.
Renowned economist Shekhar Swamy will also attend the convention.
The convention is likely to take major decisions pertaining to national movement against FDI in retail trade of India.
