Dharamsala, March 20, 2013: “Volley Ball too required a championship of international players like IPL of Cricket to post country’s flag at the higher level,” said ex-Indian Volleyball player from Kerala, Jahn Joseph in Dharamsala.
A Gold Medalist in the sport at SAARC Games in 1999, Joseph also played for India till 2002.
A team member of the BSF contingent at the 61st National Police Games here, Joseph said that the majority of Volleyball players in the country are unable to get the indoor facility in practice and national matches to prepare themselves for international events. He said that there is a huge talent in Volleyball in the country as the game is played in every part of the country, but due to no satisfactory future of the players, it has not achieved the needed popular growth.
He said, “Though there is not much incentive from government side in Volleyball yet I encouraged my younger brother Tanu to adopt it. Tanu is now plying for India.”
