The Mexx Spring-Summer’16 collection that will be available online takes inspiration from the following trends - Street, Collection & Atelier.
STREET
Women: If there is one piece that instantly evokes the summer of ’67 this season, it is the bohemian gilet in butter-soft suede. Hippie-chic fringes trail and this cover-up is worn with a long cotton dress or denim cut offs: high rise and rolled up as high as they can go! Red, Vintage Indigo and Black are softened with Papyrus. Stripes and ditsy prints have a Retro feel. Carefree and hand drawn sketched graphics, a sense of whimsy to the tees. The Spice market inspired the palette for the warm orange and red tones.
Men: You can saunter around the old town in as many cities as you like, but everyone knows that true holidays are spent stationary on a beach. We introduce our new beach shorts, made with a quick-drying material and dries faster than you can say “a margarita on the rocks, please”. Things are looking all-white for men once again this season.
ATELIER
Women: Fresh, crisp and unmistakably feminine, broderie anglaise makes for the prettiest of style updates. Paisley-print skirts and tiered dresses with fringing and Nautical-inspired details. These Boho pieces are perfect with bronzed limbs, tan accessories and a blazing sunset. A modern goddess gown A flowing, floor-skimming dress makes for an empowering silhouette, this season and beyond. Our elegant red silky dress is strong in its simplicity; the exaggerated racer back gown sculpts to your body a fashion legend.
COLLECTION
Women: Side-split skirts, unbuttoned check shirts, breezy shirt dresses and fluffy knits put a sultry spin on signature ’50s looks. Mid-century shapes, embellishment, simple cuts, and soft fabrics. Breezy summer suiting with cropped neat jackets would combine with wide flare skirts or long flowing trousers. Rope and braided details add a nautical touch to the soft tailoring and feminine shapes.
Men: Sophisticated linen shorts with our linen easy cut shirt and unlined blazer. Even the sandals: unmistakably smart. We turn our attention to “off-duty” summer attire, an area of our wardrobes often approached in a more carefree, ad-hoc manner. As a result, it can feature pieces that are at best frayed and at worst look as if time has forgotten them
