Jalandhar, October 13, 2015: “A chess game, after all is a flight in which all possible factors must be made use of, and in which a knowledge of the opponent’s good and bad qualities is of the greatest importance.” Integrating chess in schools contributes to a child’s academic performance, thereby developing them as critical thinkers, problem solvers, analyzers and decision makers.Over the years,Jalandhar Chess Association has been popularizing Chess in schools across the state of Punjab; to enable development of young minds and encourage them to take up the sport. Ivy World School is pleased to host the Jalandhar District Open Chess Championship, organized by Jalandhar Chess Association( JCA). The championship is scheduled at Ivy World School premises on 17th& 18th October 2015. The tourment comes under Punjab Government Gradation policy.
All resident of Jalandhar district can participate in this tournament. The tournament will be governed by FIDE Laws of Chess. JCA has guaranteed Rs.5000 as prize fund. For those with less time on their hands, the tournament provide the opportunity to get Rs. 4000 , Rs. 3000, Rs. 2000 and Rs. 1000 as 2nd , 3rd , 4th and 5th prize respectively . The tournament will culminate on 18th October 2015. Top ten players will be selected for “ Punjab State B” level , which will be held in Sangrur in November. The last date of entries for the tournament is 15th October 2015.
