IVI-NVG Capacity Building Workshop for NOA at Sankara Eye Hospital

Ludhiana, December 3, 2014: India Vision Institute (IVI) organised a comprehensive hands-on capacity building workshop for a group of 35 vision care professionals of the National Ophthalmic Association (NOA) at Sankara Eye Hospital, Ludhiana from december 1 to 4. 
The workshop comprised theory and practical sessions on refraction, dispensing and Optometric diagnostic instruments. The inauguration was done by Brig.M.S Gujral (Retd) CEO of Sankara Eye Hospital and Dr.AnamicaAhuja Unit Head of Vision Sankara. 
“The workshop will enhance the skill sets of vision care professionals at NOA in effectively meeting the needs of rural India. I look forward to working together with NOA as part of IVI’s efforts in strengthening Indian optometry” Vinod Daniel, CEO IVI, said on the occasion. 
Dr.Manjit (DPM-Ludhiana) had visited the workshop in between at Sankara Eye Hospital. For the closing ceremony Dr.Rakesh Gupta, State Programme Officer (NPCB) distributed the certificates and momentous to the participants. 
AbhishekKalbaraga and M Chandra Shekher, IVI, facilitated the workshop covering a range of topics including essentials of refraction, ophthalmic dispensing, soft skills and entrepreneurship development and hands on practical sessions. The workshop is the 5th workshop organized by IVI following an agreement between IVI and New Vision Generation India Pvt Ltd (NVG) to hold capacity building workshops forophthalmic officers. The earlier four workshops held at Rohtak- Haryana in December 2013, Trichy- Tamil Nadu in February 2014 , Aurangabad -Maharashtra in August 2014 and Patna -Bihar in October 2014 was very well received.
