Gurgaon, July 28, 2015: ITM University, Gurgaon organized a condolence meeting on Tuesday in memory of former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, who passed away in Shillong, Meghalaya yesterday. A total strength of 400 including the faculty, staff,and students of the University paid homage to the ‘People’s President’ and kept a silence of 2 minutes in his memory.
Dr. Kalam had earlier visited ITM University, Gurgaon on 10 March 2011 during Annual Convocation of the University. During his visit, he had informally mingled with the students and inspired them for success in their professional and personal life. He was delighted with his visit and praised the enthusiasm of the students. It was a rare opportunity for the students and faculty to hear to the legend. His positive attitude, hard work, modesty and sincerity left great marks on everyone’s hearts. His mission of igniting minds has been impressive and inspirational for all.
In his remarks in the University’s Visitors Book, he wrote,
“Delighted to visit ITM University and interact with students and faculty.”
Recalling the visit of Dr Kalam, the Pro Vice Chancellor of ITM University, Brig. SK Sharma (Retd) said, “It was a memorable occasion to share moments with Dr Kalam. He was an icon for youth and will always be an inspiration. We should learn from his simplicity, passion, love for his country and adoration for the youth.”
