Irrigation Department announces rotational irrigation programme from January 14 to 21

Chandigarh, January 13, 2014: The Irrigation Department, Punjab has announced the Rotational Programme for irrigation for the Rabi Season through Canal water from 14-01-2014 to 21-01-2014. The channels and branches off-taking from Ropar Head Works, the channels of Sirhind Canal System would run on the priority basis from Bist Doab canal, Sidhwan Branch, Bathinda Branch, Abohar Branch and Patiala Feeder respectively.
Disclosing this here today a spokesman of the Irrigation Department said that the distributaries and branches of BML, in Group ‘A’, being in the first preference, would run to their indent. Balance water supplies available, would be utilised in Direct Distributaries of Group ‘B’.
The spokesman further said that Punjab channels and branchs off-taking from Harike and Ferozpur Head Works, Abohar Branch off-taking from Sirhind Feeder and its distributaries, in Group ‘A’ being in first preference, would run to their indent. Balance water supplies available, would be utilized in Direct Distributaries of Sirhind Feeder in Group ‘B’.
The spokesman also said that the in the Upper Bari Doab Canal system, Main Branch Lower with its distributaries, being in the first preference, would run to their indent.
