International workshop on “Integration of sound and music for enhancing mental health and deepening consciousness”
Chandigarh, September 25, 2019: The Department of Psychology, Panjab University organized an International workshop on the "Integration of sound and music for enhancing mental health and deepening consciousness" here today. The key speakers from Mexico were Michelle Button, a renowned humanistic music psychotherapist and Miktlan, a traditional medical practitioner. Chairperson, Prof.Seema Vinayak, welcomed Prof.Shankar Jha, Dean University Instruction and officiating Vice Chancellor, PU guests, faculty and all the participants. She appreciated the efforts of the DRs, CRs and volunteers who helped in the successful organisation of the workshop. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Shankar Jha. In his inaugural speech, he threw light on the eminent Vedic culture of India along with the rising importance of yoga, meditation and mindfulness in mental growth and spreading positivity in our surroundings. This enlightening speech was followed up by the auspicious ceremony of lightening of the lamp done by the guests and faculty members. Experts conducted the sound therapy sessions. Prof. Jha commended the department for arranging a workshop on mental health. The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. J. Mohan. More than hundred participants from Panjab University and its affiliated colleges attended the workshop. SENSITIZATION SESSION AT PU Chandigarh, September 25, 2019: Central Placement Cell, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a sensitization session for the students of Department of Mathematics, Statistics, Economics and Department of Evening Studies for making the students aware about placement process, career planning and current industry needs. More than 90 students attended the session. Dr Sohan Singh,(founder of NMET Pvt Ltd), psychologist and Corporate Trainer motivated and apprised the students about the current industry needs, significance of personality development and gave tips to students regarding quality preparation for placements. Prof.Meena Sharma, Director, Central Placement Cell, Dr.Amandeep Singh Marwaha, Dr.Sarbjeet Singh and Dr.G.R.Chaudhary, Associate Directors, Central Placement Cell also encouraged the students to upgrade their skills to be more competitive in the ever changing economic scenario. Prof. Neeraj Sharma, Dr.Dilbagh Singh & Dr.Gagandeep Singh were instrumental in organizing the event.
