Jalandhar, October 18, 2016: The Sciences Department of Doaba College Jalandhar organized International Conference on relevance of Genomic Medicine : Personalized care for you & me. Sh.Chander Mohan-President Arya Shiksha Mandal as Chief Guest, Prof.P.K.Sehajpal – Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, GNDU graced the occasion as Keynote speaker, Dr.Ravindra Kohle-Medical Director, Georgia Esoteric Lab, USA, Dr.Alka Chaubey-Director Cytogenics Laboratory, South Carolina, USA, Dr.Jyoti Parkash-Central University, Bathinda, Dr.Harish Changotra JUIT University, HP as special speakers. The dignitaries were accorded a hearty welcome by Principal Dr. Naresh Kumar Dhiman, Dr. Rajeev Khosla Coordinator, Staff and Students. Nearly 100 delegates from Himachal, Haryana, Jammu, Delhi, Punjab and Chandigarh presented their papers in this conference.
Dr. P.K. Sehjpal said that we can identify and study the genome in every patient through this technique and began the treatment methodically to get rid of the concerned disease. Sh. Chander Mohan said that the conference on relevance of Genomic Medicines is a step in right direction as it would help in finding out treatment for various incurable diseases and its meaningfulness could only be realized if the treatment reaches to the common masses at affordable cost. Dr. Alka Chaubey said that the field of Genomic medicine is the direct outcome of a consistent research going on in the field of cyto genomics which began nearly two centuries ago and the scientist have found out cure to many incurable diseases by timely find genomic disorders. Dr. Ravindra Khole discussed new technologies in infertility testing and invitrio fertilization so as to increase the productivity of mammals. Dr. Joyti Parkash discussed the semaphorins Signalling in improving the reporductive cycles of mammals. Dr. Harish Changtra discussed the genetic aspect of Hepatitis B Virus infection and its treatment through genomic medicines. Nearly 200 students and staff attended the function.
