Jalandhar, November 20, 2019: A One Day International Conference was held in PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar under UGC’s Epoch Making Scheme of Social Thinkers in collaboration with Guru Nanak Study Centre and Punjab Bhawan, Surrey, Canada on 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
The topic of the conference was ‘Vaishvikaran De Yug Vich Guru Nanak Bani Di Prasangikta’.
Mr.Sukhi Bath (Founder, Punjab Bhawan, Surrey, Canada) was the Chief Guest. Mrs.Nirmal Pandhi (OSD, Guru Nanak Dev University College, Verka) was the Guest of Honour. Dr.S.P. Singh (Former Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar) was the Distinguished Guest and Dr.H.S. Bhatia (Former Director, Academic Staff College, GNDU, Amritsar) was the Keynote speaker.
The event began with the lighting of ceremonial lamp. The guests received floral welcome in the hands of Mr.Vinod Dada, Joint Secretary of the Managing Committee and Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Kiran Arora. Conference Coordinator and Head of Punjabi Department, Dr. Surinder Narula underscored the importance of the conference as to how Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s timeless doctrines bear relevance down through the ages owing to his critical take on ruthless despots of his time in ameliorating position of women and his absolute concern for environment.
Dr. H.S. Bhatia held that Globalization has catapulted economic inequalities whilst Nanak professed a life of service to mankind. His actions were all for people and so was his language.
Dr. S.P. Singh maintained that one must live a life of simplicity. Mrs. Nirmal Pandhi opined that we must do away with all our hearts so that future generations can follow our footsteps.
Mr. Sukhi Bath expressed his concern for environment. Two journals ‘Pravas Te Pravasi Sahit’ and ‘Sachiyar’ were released on the day.
Dr. Jai Singh, Prof, English & Foreign Language University, Hyderabad), Mr. Daljinder Rahel, Italy, Ms. Anujit Sharma, Germany, Mr. Preet Manpreet, Canada, Dr. Baljit Singh, Government College, Chandigarh, Dr. Kirandeep Singh, Lovely Professional University, Dr. Sohinderbir Singh, Retd Professor, GNDU, Amritsar were the international figures of the second session.
The guests were bestowed with token of gratitude by Mr. Vinod Dada Ji and Principal. Dr. Surinder Narula proposed a vote of thanks.
