Interested in Basic Science Career: Apply for DST INSPIRE Internship Camp at Panjab University

Chandigarh, November 2, 2016: Panjab University (PU) has invited applications from Class XI/XII Science students
for fully funded 4th DST Inspire Internship Camp at PU.
DST Inspire Internship Program Centre, PU would organize DST INSPIRE Internship Camp from November 29 – December 03, 2016. The students participating in this five day camp will have an excellent opportunity to interact with 10-12 Bhatnagar Awardees, Academy Fellows and Eminent Scientists from National Institutes like IISc, IITs, IISERs, NIPERs, CSIR, ICMR, DST, DBT, central/state universities, research centers, TIFR, BARC, NCL, JNCASR, NBRC, NCBS etc. in the science streams (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Life Sciences and Earth Sciences).
The students would be provided career counseling, career options in basic sciences thought provoking lectures, open discussions, laboratory demonstrations, hands-on innovative experiments, encourage group activities, facilitated self-learning, close interactions, and motivation towards independent thoughts and inquiry-based questions. Hands-on laboratory sessions would be organized in all science departments ie Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology, Botany, Geology, Anthropology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Computer Science, UIET and Pharmaceutical Sciences of Panjab University where students would perform small experiments along with chat with senior science faculty.
Total 500 students would be selected on the basis of their marks in class X examination. The principals have been requested to recommend all eligible students, who are presently studying science subjects in class XI / taken admission into Class
XII Science.
Eligibility Criteria: Cut-off marks in class X examination – for CBSE – CGPA - A1; ICSE – 95%; Haryana – 88.8%; Punjab – 81.3%; Himachal – 84.5%; Uttar Pradesh- 72.6%; Uttarakhand – 75.2%; Rajasthan – 83.1%; J&K – 87.2%; Gujrat – 86.4%). All the
participating students will be provided travel expenses, accommodation (outstation candidates), meals and study materials for all five days of the camp.
There is no registration fee. Completed registration form (hard copy) along with attested copy of class X mark sheet recommended by the Principal should reach Dr Anurag Kuhad, Program Coordinator, INSPIRE Internship Program Centre, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University, Chandigarh on or before November 21, 2016.
