Interactive session at PU English Department

Chandigarh, March 12, 2019: An interactive session with renowned Indian film director, script writer, columnist and researcher Mr.Jatinder Mauhar was organised in the department. The students interested in play and theatre took an initiative to invite the guest speaker who was on the city for a day. Mr.Mauhar focused on the power of regional cinema and specially focused on Punjabi Cinema. He talked about the initiation of Punjabi cinema and how it flourished to the present day. He traced the trajectory of the cinema from the times when the slides were introduced to the local folk by Dr.Ruchi Ram Sahni to the present day cinema. He stressed on the role of a critic to criticize film making in a sense that it takes film making and cinema to new heights. The session was fruitful for the students as their questions related to acting, theatre and film making were satisfactorily answered. The student organizers presented a token of love to the guest speaker.
